Text on the coins will be primarily be in the language of Westron™ or Sindarin™ inscribed mainly in the Tengwar™ or Angerthas scripts. The coins come from the Third Age™ of Middle-earth (TA) and the first years of the Fourth Age.

Shire Post Mint is a small family owned and operated private mint located in Arkansas, USA. We specialize in creating in-world coins from fictional worlds using old techniques and antique machinery. Our engraving styles range from Medieval to Modern as we strive to do justice to the author's aesthetic. We are, perhaps, best known for our licensed coins from A Game of Thrones™ and The Lord of the Rings™. We have designed and produced over 50 unique coins of Middle-earth from The Shire to Mordor™ and we will continue to design and produce more. Our mission is not just to make beautiful collectibles but to produce high quality and durable artifacts from our favorite worlds that can live in your pocket for years.

We produce our coins through in-depth research, hand engraving designs, stamping the coins on solid metals with antique coin making machinery. Certain coins are then "circulated" to give them a well-loved look and feel.

Gondor Crown in Mithril - edition of 100

Gondor Crown in Mithril
Gondor Crown in Mithril

Made for Aragorn's coronation as King Elessar™ and his marriage to Arwen™during the first year of the Fourth Age. Aragorn is shown on the obverse riding a horse and holding a flag of Gondor. On the flag is the White Tree of Gondor. Surrounding Aragorn, inscribed in Tengwar: "Elessar, Arwen, Gondor". On the reverse are Isildur and Anarion standing below the seven stars of the House of Elendil and holding a shield featuring the White Tree of Gondor. They stand on Andúril™, Aragorn’s sword forged from the shards of Narsil™. Below it are the seven Palantíri™ and the words "King Star" and "Year One"

This special Mithril version of the coin was produced during the great peace of Aragorn's time as king. Mithril is the rarest and most valuable resource in Middle-earth especially after the mines of Khazad-dûm™ ceased production. In a display of great unity, Men, Elves, and Dwarves contributed Mithril from their private stores so that this unique coin could be produced.

The Gondor Crown in Mithril is struck in 18 grams of pure niobium and anodized blue. This coin has been made in a limited edition of 110, with only 100 available to the public.

Rivendell Moon

Rivendell Moon
Rivendell Moon

This crescent moon shaped coin comes from Rivendell during the rule of Elrond.  It features lovely stylized trees, stars, and waterfalls on the obverse. On the reverse, the Sindarin text, inscribed in Tengwar reads "Elrond Halfelven, Lord of Rivendell and of the Last Homely House East of the Sea, 2941". TA 2941 is the year that Thorin Oakenshield™ and Company meet Elrond at Rivendell before continuing on to The Lonely Mountain.

The Rivendell Moon is struck in 6.3 grams solid nickel silver.

Lake-town 2-Ducat

Lake-town 2-Ducat
Lake-town 2-Ducat

This coin was struck some time before the near-destruction of Lake-town, also known as Esgaroth™, by the dragon Smaug™. The coin features a lovely scene of the canals, bridges, and wooden buildings of Lake-town with the denomination "2 Ducatu". On the reverse is a portrait of the Master of Lake-town in an arrogant pose surrounded by the words "Laketown Esgaroth". As Lake-town's main industry is based in trading between Men, Elves, and Dwarves, they put both names for their city on the coin so it can be easily understood by all.

The Lake-town 2-Ducat is struck in 13.2 grams of solid nickel silver.

Shire Half-Crown

This valuable Half-Crown is one of the largest denominations of coins from The Shire. Equal to 196 Shire Pennies, it features a lovely golden Chestnut tree. The Tengwar text on the reverse describes the denomination and reads "Shire, Abode of the Hobbits." It was minted in Shire Year 1402 or TA 3002, the year that Bilbo Baggins™ settles in Rivendell at the age of 112.

The Shire Half-Crown is struck in 4.8 grams of solid brass.

Harad Iron Mûmak

The Harad Iron Mûmak is struck in 5.9 grams of solid iron.

Red Hand of Saruman
